Late 19th-century Angler’s Gaff Hook

A wonderful, (assumed) walnut, late 19th-century short gaff hook. It’s difficult to imagine what a piece of this quality would be used for, and whilst Salmon comes to mind, using a gaff seems a little destructive. The walnut contains some burr which adds to the character of the piece. Looks great on display in an anglers office.

Condition: Good, with age-related wear consistent with use.
